End of Season Recap: Vietnamese Black Cardamom 2025
The 2025 black cardamom season in Vietnam is slowly coming to an end – and with it, the familiar scent of smoky sweetness still lingers in the mountain air.
From the high forests of Lào Cai and Hà Giang, countless baskets of freshly harvested pods have made their journey down winding paths, through local villages, and onward to spice warehouses bound for Pakistan, the Middle East, and Europe.
This year, VietGlobal Export (VGE) has successfully completed multiple shipments of high-quality Vietnamese black cardamom – marking another steady season of growth and trust from our global buyers.
And as we close the season, we’re pleased to share that 8 tons of premium, end-of-season stock are still available for export. These are large, mature pods with deep color, rich aroma, and exceptional oil content – the kind that defines Vietnam’s signature flavor.

From the Misty Highlands to the Global Market
Vietnamese black cardamom grows best under the shade of evergreen forests, 1,000–1,600 meters above sea level. The cool climate, heavy mist, and rich red soil create an ideal environment for Amomum tsao-ko – the botanical name for this powerful spice.
Here, ethnic H’Mong and Dao farmers harvest cardamom by hand every year, using traditional methods passed down through generations. No machines, no chemicals – just care, patience, and experience.
At VGE, we work directly with these farming communities to ensure transparent sourcing and consistent quality. Every lot we export can be traced back to its origin, guaranteeing both sustainability and authenticity for our import partners.
The Art of Drying – Where the Aroma is Born
Once harvested, cardamom pods are carefully pre-dried in sunlight before entering traditional wood-fired kilns.
This smoke-drying process – using firewood from natural hardwoods – is what gives Vietnamese cardamom its unique character: a bold, smoky aroma balanced by gentle sweetness.
Each batch takes up to seven days to dry, during which farmers monitor the temperature and airflow continuously to preserve essential oils.
The result? Plump, brown pods with a natural sheen and a fragrance that lingers – perfect for spice blends, extracts, and herbal applications.
At VGE’s processing facility, the pods are cleaned, sorted, and graded for export. We test moisture (below 13.5%), inspect for mold or impurities, and run each shipment through metal detection before packing.
Every carton or bag that leaves our warehouse reflects the same promise: quality, consistency, and traceability from farm to port.
A Strong Season, Despite Challenges
The 2025 season began with unpredictable weather – but thanks to improved post-harvest handling and early coordination with growers, both quality and yield remained stable.
VGE’s export volume to Pakistan, the Middle East, and European markets increased steadily, driven by strong demand for Vietnamese-origin spices with verified documentation.
Our end-of-season lots – the final 8 tons now available – represent the best of this year’s harvest:
✅ Mature pods with thick skin and high oil content
✅ Deep smoky aroma ideal for industrial blending and extraction
✅ Clean, moisture-tested batches ready for shipment
✅ Full export certification: CO, Phyto, Fumigation, SGS on request
These are not leftovers – they’re the last premium lots of the season, carefully stored and ready for immediate export.
