Vietnam Black pepper price (Nov 21, 2025): US Tax exemption vs. Weather risks

Vietnam black pepper update on Nov 2025

EXPORTS REMAIN STABLE WHILE HEAVY RAIN RAISES SUPPLY CONCERNS

Vietnam’s pepper market continues to show strong momentum as we move through November 2025. Prices remain stable at elevated levels, export demand is holding firm—especially from the United States—and Vietnam’s year-to-date export value has already surpassed the full-year results of 2024.

However, domestic supply concerns are emerging as heavy rainfall impacts key growing regions and raises uncertainty for the upcoming crop.

Below is the latest market analysis from VietGlobal Export (VGE), your trusted local partner for sourcing black and white pepper from Vietnam.

DOMESTIC PEPPER PRICES HOLD FIRM AT 145,000 – 146,500 VND/KG

As of November 21, 2025, pepper prices across Vietnam’s major producing regions remain stable, ranging from 145,000 to 146,500 VND/kg.
The highest prices continue to be recorded in Đắk Lắk and Đắk Nông, while other provinces report similar levels compared with the previous trading session.

On the global stage, Vietnam’s export offer prices remain competitive yet high, reflecting the premium quality of the current stock:

  • Black Pepper 500 g/l: $6,400 USD/MT
  • Black Pepper 550 g/l: $6,600 USD/MT
  • White Pepper: $9,050 USD/MT

The stability in pricing reflects a balance between two opposing market forces:

  • Positive sentiment from the U.S. tariff exemption announcement, and
  • Growing concerns about domestic supply caused by persistent heavy rain and flooding.

U.S. TARIFF REMOVAL SUPPORTS EXPORT SENTIMENT

One of the strongest supporting factors this week is the confirmation that the United States has removed retaliatory tariffs on pepper from Vietnam and some countries.
This has immediately improved market confidence across the global pepper industry. In India, pepper prices increased by 500 rupees per 100 kg right after the announcement, signaling the strong influence of U.S. policy on global supply flows.

The U.S. is Vietnam’s largest pepper importer, and demand remains steady:

  • 1,888 tons exported to the U.S. in the first half of November, equivalent to the same period of the previous month.
  • 4,283 tons exported to the U.S. in October 2025 alone.

With Brazil facing import tariffs as high as 40%, its market share in the U.S. has sharply declined. As of October, Brazil exported 70,198 tons of pepper globally, yet only 1,179 tons were shipped to the U.S.

This shift reinforces Vietnam’s position as the most competitive and reliable pepper supplier to the U.S. market.

HEAVY RAIN AND FLOODING THREATEN NEW CROP OUTPUT

While the demand side looks bright, the supply side is facing a storm – literally.

Current weather reports from key growing regions like Gia Lai, Dak Lak, and Khanh Hoa are concerning. These areas have recorded heavy rainfall (600 – 800 mm) over the last three days.

The Threat to the New Crop:

  • Root Rot & Leaf Drop: Prolonged waterlogging can cause severe damage to pepper vines.
  • Disease: High humidity creates the perfect environment for pests and fungal diseases.

While there is no official damage report yet, the “fear factor” is already pricing itself into the market. If the rains continue, we could see a squeeze on the quantity and quality of the upcoming harvest.

VIETNAM PEPPER EXPORTS SURPASS 1.45 BILLION USD YTD – A RECORD-BREAKING YEAR

Despite the challenges, the Vietnam pepper industry has achieved a significant milestone.

As of mid-November 2025, export turnover has reached 1.45 billion USD, surpassing the 1.3 billion USD recorded in all of 2024.

Vietnam shipped 8,500 tons of pepper during the first half of November alone, with strong demand from:The United States, India, Germany, UAE, Egypt.

Interestingly, Vietnam imported 804 tons of pepper in the first half of November (valued at $5.1 million USD), mainly from Cambodia and Brazil. This indicates that local processing factories are stocking up to cover domestic shortages.
